Stop H.R. 722: A National Abortion Ban

When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, it gave states the power to decide abortion laws. Many Republican-led states rushed to pass extreme abortion bans, stripping away reproductive rights. But across the country, voters have fought back, passing state constitutional protections for abortion—even in conservative states like Montana, Ohio, and Missouri.

Now, anti-abortion politicians want to impose a nationwide abortion ban. H.R. 722, introduced by Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO), would apply the 14th Amendment's "equal protection" clause to "unborn persons," granting legal rights to fertilized eggs, embryos, and fetuses—effectively banning abortion nationwide, even in states where voters chose to protect it.
