Oppose Politically-Motivated Public Health Funding Cuts
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has instructed the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) to claw back $600 million in public health funds previously awarded to programs in the Democrat-led states of California, Colorado, Illinois and Minnesota, citing “waste and mismanagement.” These cuts will devastate funding for core public health infrastructure that keeps Americans safe, including early detection of outbreaks, preventing HIV and intimate partner violence, reducing health disparities, modernizing data systems, strengthening the public health workforce, and more. Furthermore, these cuts are just another example of the Trump administration’s continued efforts to politicize funding for essential government services and punish blue states.
While a judge has temporarily blocked these nakedly partisan cuts from going into effect, the Trump administration will continue to attempt to withhold federal dollars to punish blue states and undermine evidence-based public health interventions. Call your members of Congress to demand that these funds be immediately restored.
