Oppose Todd Blanche for Attorney General
Trump has nominated his former personal criminal defense attorney, Todd Blanche, to serve as Attorney General of the United States.
Blanche, who previously served as Deputy Attorney General, is the current Acting Attorney General, and there are serious concerns that he will further politicize the Justice Department. Blanche has pursued investigations into several of Trump's perceived political enemies, leading former prosecutors and legal scholars to warn that the department is being used as a tool for political retaliation.
Blanche also praised Trump's mass pardons of January 6 defendants and helped create the controversial $1.8 billion "Anti-Weaponization Fund” for the so-called political victims of the Biden administration. Last year, he traveled to Florida to meet with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, who reportedly received limited immunity to answer questions during the unorthodox interview.
The Attorney General is the nation's top law enforcement officer, not the president's personal attorney. The Senate should reject the nomination of Todd Blanche and demand an Attorney General who will put the Constitution and the rule of law above political loyalty.
