Fight the DOGE-Directed Dismantling of the Federal Government

Ever since Trump created DOGE, the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, via executive order on February 11th, unelected billionaire Elon Musk and his team of young computer hackers have worked to dismantle the federal government piece by piece. Without the legal authority to do so, they have laid off thousands of workers across the federal government and stopped payment to vital programs and grants previously approved by Congress.

Government agencies whose workforce and spending have been targeted by DOGE attacks include:

• US Agency for International Development (USAID)
• The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)
• Department of Education
• Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), including the CDC and FDA
• National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
• Social Security Administration
• Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
• United States Postal Service (USPS)
• National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service (NWS)
• The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
• Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
• Department of Defense (DoD)
• Americorps
• The National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) and National Endowment of the Arts (NEA)

This rampant disruption across the government is not only questionably legal, it has devastated communities, endangered the health and wellbeing of Americans, set back crucial scientific progress for generations, and compromised the economic stability of workers and the entire country. While legal challenges to DOGE move through the courts, Congress must exert its constitutional authority over federal spending and serve as the necessary check on this gross executive overreach by Trump and Musk.
